App Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains how the Tamena mobile app and the patient portal (app.tamena.app) handle your account and the health data you record. Tamena helps you follow a chronic condition; it does not diagnose or treat, and it never uses your data for advertising. The public website has its own privacy policy.
Your account
To create an account we need your name, an email address or mobile number, and a password. We store only a secure hash of your password, never the password itself. We record when you sign in so we can keep your account secure.
Health data you record
What you choose to enter: your conditions and diagnosis dates, daily check-ins and mood, symptoms and where you feel them, medicines with their schedules and the doses you take or skip, lab results, and profile details such as date of birth, gender, height, weight, blood type, allergies and reproductive status. You decide what to record; most of it is optional.
Why we use it
Only to provide the service you asked for: to keep your records, show your trends and Pain Index, remind you of doses, build the reports you request, and share them when you choose. We process your health data with your explicit consent, which you give when you create your account, and you can withdraw it by deleting your account.
On your phone
The app keeps a copy of your records on your phone so it works offline. That copy is encrypted, and it is deleted when you sign out. If you turn on the app lock, your fingerprint or face is checked by your phone; it never reaches us.
Reminders and notifications
Dose reminders are scheduled on your phone and never show the name of a medicine or a condition on the lock screen. To send notifications we keep your device’s notification token, language and time zone, delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can turn notifications off in the app at any time.
Sharing with your doctor
Nothing is shared unless you create a share link. A link shows only the conditions and period you pick, expires on its own, can be revoked at any time, and you are told when it is opened.
Who can see your data
You, and anyone you share a link with. We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising. A small number of authorised staff can reach records only to keep the service running or when the law requires it; they sign in with two-factor verification and every access is recorded in an audit log.
Where it is stored and how it is protected
Your data is stored on Microsoft Azure servers in the United Arab Emirates and sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Sensitive profile details are encrypted again inside our database. Emails such as password reset codes are sent through Cloudflare. These providers process data only on our instructions.
Analytics and advertising
The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking tools.
How long we keep it
For as long as you keep your account. When you delete it, we erase your account and all the health data it holds 30 days later (the delay lets you change your mind). We keep only an audit record that an account was erased, with an internal number and the date, and statistics that cannot identify anyone.
Deleting your account
In the app: Profile, then Delete account at the bottom. Without the app: see tamena.app/delete-account. You can also ask us to see, correct or export your data by emailing support@tamena.app.
Children
Tamena is meant for adults aged 18 and over. A parent or guardian may use it on behalf of a child in their care.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, withdraw your consent, or object to its processing, in line with applicable laws including Saudi Arabia’s Personal Data Protection Law and Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020.
Changes to this policy
We will publish any change on this page with its date, and tell you in the app when a change affects how your health data is used.
